We've been together as 'Smiler' for over 20 years and play for the sheer enjoyment of being able to perform a few of our personal favourite songs. By some amazing miracle, or a combination of modern medicine, WD40, physiotherapy, the power of positive thinking and grim determination, we're still able to 'get out there', so we are extremely grateful to everyone who's enabled us to.
We've both played in bands of various descriptions and styles since our early teens, so hopefully we've learnt something during the intervening years. It's great now, to play in a band without big egos getting in the way. We both know we're pulling in the same direction, to achieve the best sound we can. After all it's only a few songs; it's not going to change the world, but it makes us feel better.
The band began more as an experiment, to see if it was possible to play 'rocky' songs in what is not a conventional line up. There are not many guitar and drum two piece bands out there. Some of our early attempts were not particularly spectacular, but we slowly began to understand what worked and what didn't.
It was our intention from the outset, not to take things too seriously and to stop playing as soon as it became like a job or a chore. Thankfully this has never become the case, though we are looking for a roadie and will quite willingly pay up to £5 an evening and even throw in the occasional half a pint of shandy!
So, if you've seen the band, you know what we're about, if not, then give us a try.

SOME COMMENTS ABOUT THE BAND
"why does he wear those headphones" (no, I'm not listening to the football)
"what sort of music do you play?" (see the Home page)
"we can tell you enjoy it" (we wouldn't do it if we didn't)
"how many songs do you play?" (about 50)
"the music sounds really polished" (what, you mean like the top of our heads?)
